Roseville is a thriving city in Placer County that is conveniently located a mere 16 miles from the capital of California, Sacramento. It lies at the base of the Sierra Nevada foot hills on the eastern edge of the Sacramento Valley. It was incorporated on April 10th, 1909 and has since developed a population of over 104, 655. The climate in the city is similar to most other California cities; A hot, dry summer followed by a mild winter.
The economy is varied, with sectors in agriculture, financial services, healthcare, retail, and technology. Out of all of these, retail is by far the most prosperous, with the West Field Galleria setting a prime example. The leading employers in Roseville are Hewlett-Packard, Kaiser Permante, NEC Technologies, and the Union Pacific Railroad.
There are several attractions for residents and tourists alike in Roseville. Magic Circle Theatre offers live theatre and has had several recommendations for the “Best Local Theatre Group” Award. Live music can be heard at Music In The Park, a famous Roseville event. On Old Town Vernon Street, a historic area, the city hosts an event called Downtown Tuesday, where people can be found interacting with different vendors and live bands. Other popular attractions are Golfland Sunsplash and the Denios Farmers Market and Swap Meet, which is Roseville’s largest open market. There are also several museums located in the city. The fine wineries of Napa are located just a half hour away, as are Lake Tahoe and Folsom Lake. Roseville has lots of parks and golf courses along with thousands of acres of open space.
The city boasts excellent recreation and educational programs, making it a family friendly community. Several of schools in the city have won the California Distinguished School Award. There are plenty of colleges nearby, with California State University, Sacramento, Sierra Community College, and the University of California, Davis all within a half hours drive away.
